Measuring of natural and artificial radioactivity in Al-Dakhiliya governorate, Sultanate of Oman

Abstract Soil and sand samples were collected from eight different locations in the Al-Dakhiliya governorate, Sultanate of Oman to determine evaluate natural artificial radioactivity levels. The activity concentrations radionuclides 137 Cs, 226 Ra, 40 K, 235 U 228 Ac measured using high resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy detectors (HPGe detectors). In addition, radiation hazard indexes evaluated order measure radioactive risk for human beings environment. found as 0.82 ± 0.04, 29.01 1.37, 290.14 ±2.79, 5.88 0.65 39.57 3.85 Bq/Kg respectively. Radium-equivalent Ra eq was obtained varied range 340 43 with a mean value 108.3 Bq/Kg. study that gamma indexes, external internal most sites less than 1, which indicates low dose. concludes seven contain relatively radioactivity, whereas one site requires more investigation future results show sort rise rate on its samples.
